J Mario Jewellery
As a goldsmith with over 25 years of experience, Mario blends traditional craftsmanship of the highest quality with modern artistry. In his designs, he draws inspiration from geometric shapes, nature, and his cultural heritage-particularly pre-Hispanic jewellery-and infuses them with a touch of Art Deco elegance. The pieces he creates reflect a fusion of contemporary design with a deep commitment to handcrafted jewellery.
Journey
Mario’s journey into the world of jewellery began as a teenager in his family’s workshop in Colombia’s coffee region, where he first discovered his passion for the craft.
After moving to Barcelona in his early twenties, he worked for a range of renowned contemporary and classic jewellery companies, refining his skills and gaining the experience that would shape his career.
In 2013, Mario relocated to London and began working in Hatton Garden, where he later established his own practice.
In 2025, he moved to The Goldsmiths’ Centre in London, where he now offers top-quality bespoke commissions for private clients and designers, as well as high-end trade work for distinguished jewellery businesses, while also continuing to develop his own collections.
Mario’s extensive experience allows him to work with the finest gemstones, diamonds, and metals to exacting standards. He enjoys collaborating with both newcomers and seasoned design professionals, helping each client create unique and personalised pieces. With a blend of technical expertise and creative vision, he takes pride in bringing clients’ ideas to life through carefully crafted, one-of-a-kind jewellery.
Ethical Practice
Sustainability and ethical practices have become an increasingly important part of Mario’s work. Having previously worked with upcycled, heirloom, and Fairtrade metals, he now proudly incorporates certified Fairmined Gold into his pieces, ensuring that each reflects both beauty and responsibility.
